Urban Elements Design (Bus Stop, Bike Rack And Highway Pillars)

Qiddiya City Public Realm

Qiddiya City, KSA

Client QIC
Year 2023

As part of the wider public realm design and urban design development for Qiddiya City, the bus stops, bike racks, and highway pillars were developed as a coordinated family of urban elements.

Each design direction translates the broader identity of the destination into scalable, modular elements adaptable across multiple public realm and infrastructure conditions.

The bus stop and bike rack were originally designed under PenguinCube and commissioned by Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC). The visuals presented here reflect further independent development of the concepts beyond the initial collaboration.

The design explored three distinct thematic directions:

Organic

Qiddiya Organic 1
Qiddiya Organic 2
Qiddiya Organic 3

Seamless, flowing geometries translate the natural movement of Qiddiya's escarpment into soft, organic forms, creating a fluid public realm design language that blends sculpted elements with the surrounding landscape.

Pixelated

Qiddiya Pixelated 1
Qiddiya Pixelated 2
Qiddiya Pixelated 3

Asymmetrical, pixel-inspired geometries fragment surfaces into faceted elements that echo the dynamic natural formations of Qiddiya's landscape while introducing a digital, energetic aesthetic across the urban elements system.

Origami

Qiddiya Origami 1
Qiddiya Origami 2
Qiddiya Origami 3

Folded, origami-inspired geometries create a visual contrast between the organic desert landscape and the constructed elements of Qiddiya's public realm, forming a cohesive urban design language that balances sharp architectural expression with the surrounding natural context.
